Everyone involved with the Republican campaigns from dogcatcher to Senator have to behave just like I used to when I visited the Soviet Union during the "cold war" -- presume every word is overheard and every writing will be stolen. Your opponents have both the unlimited resource of domestic and international spying services and the determination of a major media investigator. For this campaign there is no such thing as morals, fairness or a duty to inform -- the government and the media are at war with you and as in love "all's fair". Remember that the Republican agenda is to restore sanity to government which has morphed into something that elected officials and "everyone" understands is corrupt and "has to be" to accomplish the only goal -- getting and staying in office. And should the Conservatives fail to restore honesty, get ready for what I experienced in Russia -- whispered or scribbled notes while loud music plays in the background because you know every syllable will be recorded and the full force of government used to uncover what you said as a small child. So, yeah, let's concentrate on the word "hick" as a way of electing -- and we'll get the government we deserve. Shame on CBS news, shame on our elected officials, but mostly shame on us for putting up with this dishonesty and exaggeration!

"the Republican agenda is to restore sanity to government" and "should the Conservatives fail to restore honesty"? Are you serious? Didn't you read the article? What is honest or sane about completely faked commercials?

The number of those "hickey, blue collar" types in this country is quite substantial you know. That is where the largest number of working Americans are actually found. Many of those people, are the solid, no nonsense, hard workers, that founded this country, and made it great, to start with.

It is unfortunate that the folks these actors represnet don't realize that the RP doess not care about them. They do not represent the top 3% of earners or care about their jobs, their heath care, or famililies. What they do care about is not letting the govenemnet take away their guns.

and the GOP couldn't find any real ones in W Va tsigili? They had to go to Colorado to find "fake" rednecks to represent them? They "outsourced" rednecks?

From the Urban Dictionary: Hicky A form of love bite. A bruise raised on the body of a sexual partner by very hard kissing / biting / sucking. Normally found on the necks of adolescent girls. You've got a hicky on your neck, who you been with you little tart?

And apparently someone in the GOP doesn't know how to spell John Deere, either. No mention of that.

In other words, we're looking for morony looking actors with one tooth between them. People who look representative of your state. And it'll work too.

what the he** is wrong with you people? i am a hick, some of my friends are hicks, and we all are proud of it! we know a lot more about life and common sense that any of you kool aid drug induced progressives. the 'hicks' or 'common folk' in a commercial gives it a lot more air of realism and intelligence than having a couple of 'yucky yuppies' in it. the American people trust the common thinkers much more than 'pie in the sky' wealth redistributors who lie and obfuscate facts! which means almost all the MSM, harry smith, couric, etc., etc. and they're not even ashamed of themselves!

WOW,hick justification,____"American people trust the common thinkers much more" ________ American people?______or gullible Tea Party people?___The GOP loves the less intelligent people because they're easier to control and use, which is what you just proved.

The Republican party has been conning non-rich people for years. This episode illustrates exactly who they are.

This is typical of the GOP who have no respect for the middle class or the poor. The republican party and the tea party have no answers to our problems other than to transfer immense wealth to the top 3% richest people in the USA. Look at Glenn Beck's rally in Washington: all the marchers were elderly white people with the exception of a couple of uncle Toms placed on the stage. Glenn Beck and Fox are a focus of hate against minorities and immigrants. You know how many crayons you need to color a tea party coloring book? One, the white crayon. Mark Montgomery NYC, NY
